In conjunction with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, Butler County United Way is pleased to act as the fiscal agent in offering the Ohio Governor's Imagination Library (OGIL) service throughout Butler County.
This free service is made possible by the Office of the Ohio Governor and the generosity of local donors. It is facilitated through a partnership with MidPointe Library Systems and Lane Public Libraries.
In a matter of minutes, you can start your child's Imagination Library journey! Children from birth up to age five can sign up to receive a new book each month at no cost to you. Just click the "OhioImaginationLibrary.org" link above to be taken to the registration site. Once you are there, click 'Enroll Now' and answer a few simple questions. Your child will begin receiving a new book tailored to their age group in your mailbox each month. It fits right in with our mission on early childhood education to put more books in the hands of Butler County children,
to better prepare them to enter kindergarten ready to succeed.
Donations to this incredible program are always welcomed and, better yet, all donations will be matched dollar for dollar by the Ohio Governor's Office. If you are interested in donating, please click the button below to be connected to our secure donation site.
The Ohio Governor's Imagination Library was spearheaded by Ohio's First Lady Fran DeWine and her passion for children and the desire to give all Ohio children a strong start in life. Here, the First Lady reads to a group of first grade students from Elda Elementary, Ross School District, during the Ohio Governor's Imagination Library Butler County launch in March, 2020.
The inspiration for the Ohio Governor's Imagination Library...
Inspired by her father’s inability to read and write, Dolly started her Imagination Library in 1995 for the children within her home county. Today, her program spans four countries and mails over 1 million free books each month to children around the world.
“When I was growing up in the hills of East Tennessee, I knew my dreams would come true. I know there are children in your community with their own dreams. They dream of becoming a doctor or an inventor or a minister. Who knows, maybe there is a little girl whose dream is to be a writer and singer.
The seeds of these dreams are often found in books and the seeds you help plant in your community can grow across the world.”
